Liver & Banana Cake

You Will Need

2 eggs broken with shells (Grind the shells up)

1 Banana

500g coconut flour

1 Clove of garlic

2 Table Spoons of Flaxseed Oil.

Then add ½ Kilo of Ox Liver (raw)

Method

  1. Combine ingredients and Blitz. I use a hand stick blender.

2. The next bit is the sticky bit. Hand mix the flour to the liquid.

You should end up with something like this

As you can see it’s very stringy and very sticky, I describe it as the texture of Contact adhesive.

3. Now get it out of the bowl into a baking tray, remember to grease and then flour the tray (I’ve found that works really well and the cake falls out when turned over), all other prepping of the tray resulted in scraping and scratching with cake broken and stuck to the tray.

4. I preheat the oven to 160 and bake for 30 mins then prod it to check if baked all through. This last one I checked at 30 and put it back for 10, poked it again and it was still sticking to the chopstick so another 10. The next one will be 45 mins then check. Truthfully times will vary with your oven so just poke and test.

5.Allow the cake to cool then turn out and slice. I get a lot of pieces and made up 12 bags of 20 approx pieces. I then put them all in the freezer and take out each morning a frozen bag. By the time it’s treat time they are defrosted and any coolness is enjoyed by the dogs.

I have been told a great substitute for Liver (if it’s too strong for you or your dog) is Lung. I’ll be trying that next.

I've Been Keeping Cavaliers And Other Breeds Which Include Old English Mastiff, Labradors, Jack Russell And A Few Rescued Mixed Breeds For About 50 Years.

I Started Raw Feeding About 30 Years Ago When I Had A Rescue Cavalier That Was Itching Constantly, Often Had D. And Showed Many Signs Of Allergies. After A Trip To The Zoo, I Had A Lightbulb Moment When I Thought That Zookeepers Fed Each Different Species An Appropriate Diet. There Was No Internet And Very Little At The Library So I Started Reading More On Wild Dogs, Coyotes, Wolves Etc. Would Eat In The Wild. I'm Not Sure In The Beginning The Meals Were Balanced, But With Experiments And Time, I Found This Particular Dog Was Doing Much Better. At The Time We Were Recommended Pedigree Chum And Dried Biscuits (Kibble). I Haven't Fed Either Since.

At The Moment I Have Just Tilly Who Is A B&T, She Has Been Raw Fed Since We Have Had Her At 8 Weeks Old And Now Is Almost 8, Very Healthy With No Health Issues.

Having Followed The Growth Of The Healthy Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Group I Volunteered To Help Marita, Which Was Over 7 Years Ago And I Am Proud To Be Part Of Her Team. It Didn't Take Long Before We Had More And More Members Asking About Raw Feeding, We Started A Messaging Group Called Raw Buddies, When It Got To 17 We Realised We Needed A Raw Feeding Group As Messages Were Being Missed And It Was Difficult To Keep Up Raw Fed Healthy Cavs Was Formed.

I've Learned And Keep Learning From The Team Marita Has Built, This Is An Amazing Group And As I Said I Am Proud To Be Part Of It
